Also available is an optional Trolley and Embroidery module bag in coordinating print. The 580 Liberty Edition is ideal for quilters, giving plenty of space for working on bigger projects with 8.5" to the right of the needle. The innovative Bernina Dual Feed feeds the fabric evenly from above and below meaning you can sew many layers without puckers, and handle slippery or fine fabrics with confidence. The Bernina Free Hand System lets you lift or lower the presser foot using only the knee lifter, keeping your hands free to guide your projects. The included Bernina Stitch Regulator (BSR) is an important accessory for free-motion sewing, as it ensures stitches of exactly the same length every time at variable sewing speeds, and allows you to freely guide the fabric in all directions.

The Bernina Hook keeps stitches consistent and precise, and it's fast too, sewing at a maximum speed of 1000 stitches per minute. Thanks to the automatic thread cutter, your thread is cut with an easy one-button operation. This keeps your work flowing easily and saves time. The foot control is programmable, the presser foot pressure is adjustable, and the sewing and embroidery speeds are variable via a sliding control.
