The special shape of this multi-purpose foot makes it particularly suitable for free-motion embroidery and contour quilting. It can also be used to produce attractive lace and monograms.

Small holes and tears can also be repaired using the Bernina Hosiery Darning Hoop for your specific machine along with this foot. The hopper mechanism combined with the vertical spring presses the foot firmly to the project, preventing the material from pulling up with the needle during sewing (flagging) and ensuring a neat stitch pattern.
