A CELEBRATION OF KAFFE FASSETT

We are thrilled to be hosting two special events to celebrate the  launch of Kaffe Fassett's new range for Rowan yarns, Cotton Colours.

Join us for an evening celebrating the launch of Kaffe Fassett’s new Cotton Colours Handknit range of yarn.

Craft-Bite Knitting Workshops - Saturday 22nd April (starting at 10am)

The following day we'll be running short workshops with Rowan Design Tutor and creative artist Avril Best.

  • Bite-sized 45-minute workshops
  • Learn about working with colour: choose from either intarsia or fair-isle knitting: see below for  more information 
  • An opportunity to skill-up and gain the confidence to tackle knitting in glorious colour!
  • Begin a small sample to take away
  • £5 per session

Intarsia techniques

Work on a sample from Kaffe’s designs for Rowan Selects Handknit Cotton and look at techniques to make your intarsia flow from colour to colour: stranding and weaving, creating an even fabric, dealing with ends, and following charts.

All yarn is provided. Attendees will need to bring with them:

  • 3.75mm /4mm needles
  • Crochet hook in a similar size
  • Sewing-up needle
  • Small pair of scissors

Fair Isle techniques

Work on a traditional fair isle sample, using beautiful Rowan Felted Tweed. We will tackle working with charts, two handed Fair Isle, creating an even fabric and hints and tips for working in the round.

All yarn is provided. Attendees will need to bring with them:

  • 3.5mm/3.75mm needles
  • Crochet hook in a similar size
  • Sewing-up needle
  • Small pair of scissors
